The Atrium Series Outdoor / Indoor Loudspeaker is the ultimate in flexibility, reliability and high fidelity sound quality for the great outdoors. You get the freedom to put speakers anywhere you want high performance sound. The kitchen, the den, the guestroom, the patio or pool, even the backyard BBQ pit. Sure, there are lots of "outdoor" speakers out there. But look at the fine print. Many of them are suitable only for placement in sheltered locations. Polk's Atrium Series speakers meet or exceed military specifications for environmental endurance. The tests have coded names like "ASTM D5894-UV Salt Fog," "Mil standard 810 Immersion" and "Mil standard 883 Method 1009 8 for salt and corrosion." But passing them means that Atrium speakers can withstand some of the worst that Mother Nature can dish out. In addition, stainless steel, brass and aluminum hardware ensures years of rustproof reliability.
- Atrium Series Speakers exceed baseline industrial and military specifications for environmental endurance (ASTM D5894-UV Salt Fog, Mil Standard 810 Immersion, Mil-Std 883 Method 1009.8 for salt and corrosion.)
- Anodized Aluminum Tweeter Domes with Rubber Surrounds are absolutely immune to the elements, provide the smooth, broad high-end range you need for larger outdoor spaces
- Newly designed tweeter phase cap smoothes the frequency response from 12KHz up to 20kHz, the last audible octave.
- Broad Coverage Baffle Design adapted and applied from our current Atrium design but a more steeply-angled baffle design that maximizes critical mid- and high-frequency dispersion over a large area.
- Speed-Lock Mounting System for easy, safe one-handed installations even in difficult locations. The greatly simplified mounting procedure means fewer parts to ¿juggle.¿

I have had a “total” sound system in my home for more than 10 years – a set of Bose indoor speakers in each of three rooms; a set of Bose outdoor speakers in the eaves over my front door and another set in my outdoor screen room; and a set of Cerwin Vega “bookshelf” speakers in my TV/entertainment room. Just today, I added a set of Polk Audio Atrium 4 speakers to the system in order to pipe sound (satellite TV/DVD/CD)to an arbor swing located about 50 feet from the back of my house. I must say, I am impressed. The Polk Audio Atrium 4s sound every bit as good as the Bose speakers (if not better), and the quality of their construction appears outstanding. As this is the the set which will be most exposed to the elements, I was encouraged by the excellent “weatherproof” specifications and the fit and finish of the Atrium 4s. Only time will tell if they hold up as well as the outdoor speakers I now have, but at a price about $100 cheaper than the least expensive Bose outdoor speakers, they appear to be an extraordinary value for the money. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
